This riot of colors and joy was born from the idea seeded in the Year Of Jewellery (YOJ) challenge; theme: "The Hanging Gardens of Babylon".

The colors, bright, feisty, and joyous to reflect gardens and nature; crystals, wooden beads, faceted glass, leaves, shinny butterflies, and red hot chilies - all vie for attention and join in the celebration of the wonders of gardens and nature.

Wirework using rich copper wire. Medium size: approximately 8inches (20 cm). Very comfortable on wrist.

Perfect to lift the spirits, any day, any time, anywhere.

Construction Notes

Yay! My first go at this twisting wire work to form branches etc. Love it! Just random beads etc. picked for a specific color theme or look.

Copper wire: 0.5mm was finally used; which was pretty good but in future I might just something a bit thicker.

I started the first version (which I had to undo - cut apart) with 0.25mm fine silver plated brass wire. Great wire. Was easy to work with ... but really too thin for this kind of work. Tendency to break with too many twists and cannot take many twists. Not enough strength and boy if you want the work to lay out (as here) and not all scrunch together - making it a bit like an unstructured charm bracelet.

Even with thicker wire, do not twist too tightly nor too many times. It will break. But if it does, you can rejoin and hide ends quite easily because wire is like that. But preference is: no breaks. Of course!

For this first trial run, I have used button as the clasp. In future I want to use something that integrates better - or put the button further in so that when it is looped close, there is no gap from the loop.

Idea for future construction: this wire work as part of a necklace hung on some stringing materials (chain, ribbons, cords, etc.)
