My Name is Sunshine bird brooch

"My Name is Sunshine" does not mean my name is "Sunshine". It means, my name is "My Name Is Sunshine". Complicated I know, but honest, I have a waited a long time to have a name and when you hear my story, you will agree I am sure that I deserve the name "My Name Is Sunshine".

In a flurry of late-night inspiration, my maker-bee created me. And left me, with no ability to go forth into the world. She gave me no backing, she gave me no bail, she gave me no purpose in life. She looked at me, she was quite pleased at who I had become but she didn't know who or what I was.

I could hear other yet-to-be-born beings calling to her for attention, and so with no new data to guide her, she wrapped me and left me to languish in limbo.

Then one day, what seemed like a long while since I came into being, my maker-bee looked at me and finally finally .. she heard me ... I said "my name is ..", and then she seemed distracted so I repeated "my name is sunshine" - and so that is how she came to name me, "My Name Is Sunshine" and my purpose is to pin onto your lapel, your jacket, your top, your bag, your sleep and go with you bring sunshine and smiles wherever we go. Would you like me in your life? Because as you can see, nothing deters me ... I am a bit of Sunshine itself! tweet!

Construction Notes

"My Name is Sunshine" brooch came about when I was playing with creating perfectly round needle-felted pieces (head & body); using cutter moulds. And the red heart in the back if also felted with guide from a cutter mould. And the wing :)

Embellishments came after - precision crystals, flat rondelles, Swarovski small pendants (eyes), and ceylon seed beads.

I used RG recycled suede and it is great. Soft, suede-like feel and strong. And easy to use. I like it very much!!!

MNIS was bought by my very lovely friend Beverly Reynolds in USA. However MNIS had to take a detour before he could fly off to be with Bev. He had to visit my oh so very talented buddy, Caroline Fung. You see Caroline, in her incredibly kindness was making Little Ethan as a gift for Bev and MNIS had gone over to visit Caroline and to pick up Little Ethan so they could make the journey to USA together. He was also drooling at being able to meet Saucy Molly, who is Little Ethan's aunt.
