Many months ago, I did a batch of crosses utilizing a beadweave that I could not identify (the original idea was from a Japanese graphic bead magazine with little to no English). So for and to myself, I called this the "capture weave" because a dear and wonderful friend of mine (Beverly Reynolds) said that it was a wonderful way to "capture" beads - which is what the beadweave was doing.

Those initial batch of beaded crosses was quite a while ago and recently, thinking about them, I realized I had completely forgotten how to do that "capture weave". So to jog my memory plus to experiment with making my own felt beads (which I imagined would be much more fun and easy to use than hard beads) to use in some "capture weave" experiment, this pendant (and some other creations not shown here) was born.

The felt beads have vibrant colors and being very light - they will not wear you down with heaviness. And being wool, those big luscious felt beads will not break, crack, or smash. This is a very fun pendant - eye catching and with a joyous dangly movement between the 2 bead balls. Note: the pendant 2 separate looks so you can wear it on either side for a slightly different look.

Materials: Swarovski bicone 5328, 4mm - Rose Opal, Light Olivine. Czech bicone crystals in 3mm. Brass round bail (silver plated, nickle free, lead free). Seed beads.

I now realize that the "capture weave" is some form of RAW (right angle weave).

Sequence: Make felted beads. Capture weave each bead separately. Finish off center of each bead with peyote beadweaving. Join both beads using RAW.

When beading the top bead that has to include the bail - note that the there is double bicone beading there AND that the (closed) bail was worked into the piece during the beading process.

2 sides: The green beading has "front" and "back" - giving 2 looks to the pendant. The "front" has the built-up peyote center; the other side is simpler. Below are more construction/materials/dimension photos.
